Once OSHA has been notified of a workplace fatality or catastrophe, the clock begins ticking until OSHA opens a compliance inspection. During this window of time before an OSHA Compliance Officer arrives on-site, the employer should gather pertinent information, conduct an accident investigation, interview employees, and otherwise prepare for the forthcoming inspection. The measures taken by the employer during this time are critical in managing the compliance inspection and thus should be implemented as soon as possible. As a result, CTEH® personnel are available at all times to respond to workplace incidents in order to provide OSHA support. In addition, CTEH® personnel can review documents, evaluate safety programs, review applicable OSHA standards and otherwise provide support from the CTEH® central office.
