Employee of the Month: Josh Evans

IT Administrator Josh Evans began his career at CTEH in 2013, and he has worn many hats since his hiring. He is “always available,” and “does it all with a smile on his face.” We’re proud to highlight Josh as our February Employee of the Month.

What does a typical day at CTEH look like to you?

On a typical day, I’m generally one of the first to arrive in the morning. I’m here to assist with any type of IT-related issue that might come up. I find quick solutions to those problems. I work on a wide range of issues – it could be hardware, software, networking, or user issues. Every day is different.

What brought you to CTEH?

In 2013, I went to a job fair here in Little Rock. I went down looking for an IT job, but CTEH wasn’t hiring IT positions at the time. I met Jake Bird, who told me about the Rapid Responder Program. I had been in the U.S. Navy and had prior HAZMAT experience. So, the Rapid Responder Program seemed like a good fit for me, and I did that until 2015. In time I was asked if I was interested in becoming a recruiter/coordinator for the Rapid Responder Program. I did that until 2018 when I moved into my current role.

What do you enjoy most about working at CTEH?

I enjoy the people; CTEH has a family atmosphere. The people here are the best, and I enjoy the camaraderie of everybody I work with. Everyone at CTEH has a sense of family connection and the willingness to work together toward a common goal. There’s no other type of culture I can compare it to. It makes me think of our motto: “we help people.”

Do you have a favorite CTEH memory?

When I was out on projects working with the Operations Department, I enjoyed connecting with the staff and helping people when they were in need. I enjoyed being on that initial team working long hours and toward an innovative solution. You miss the excitement of being a first responder in critical situations to problem-solve solutions in the community pertaining to the job situation – it was addictive. But I enjoy my current job now as an IT administrator. Just like being a rapid responder, I still get to work with others and problem-solve issues that correlate in the field. I get to focus on situations that revolve around technology and troubleshoot them. I like that I still have the ability to assist others and can be available for them immediately when I am needed.
