Helen Dubach will now serve as CTEH’s director of Environmental Response. Since joining the team in 2017, Helen has provided planning, preparedness, and response services to CTEH clients around the globe as a senior environmental consultant. She has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental field, with a focus on chemical and oil spills. We talked to Helen about her new role in our Q&A. Under Helen’s leadership, CTEH will continue to provide and expand emergency response and expert consulting addressing environmental and human health concerns related to contaminated properties, sediments, and/or waterways. Her environmental team is a blend of seasoned professionals with a broad range of skill sets.
How has your role evolved since you started?
Five years ago, I joined CTEH as a senior consultant in the Response Management (RM) department, where I provided support to the Incident Management Team during responses, trainings, and exercises. With my environmental background, I found myself increasingly drawn into roles in the environmental unit, even as I took on leadership of the RM department.
How are you planning to approach this new role?
I look forward to building on CTEH’s past successes in environmental response and establishing a formal program that ensures our readiness to respond from the field to the Command Post. One of my main objectives is to provide training and mentorship to ensure CTEH personnel have the tools and knowledge to deliver quality data and informed recommendations to our clients.
What excites you the most about your new position?
I’m excited at the opportunity to have a dedicated team to continue to build CTEH’s environmental response services.
What does CTEH mean to you?
CTEH’s mission is to help companies, governments, and communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from threats to their environment and people. Put simply – we like to help people. One thing that stands out in my time with CTEH is that the entire team is also committed to helping and supporting each other. Emergency response isn’t easy, but having an excellent internal support network really helps!
