The Southeastern U.S. is experiencing a surge of COVID-19 cases, with many states reporting extremely low numbers or a complete lack of intensive care unit beds. Now, the region is facing yet another threat: Ida.

Ida is currently on track to strike the northern Gulf Coast as a hurricane this weekend. When it does, the Weather Channel predicts it will wreak havoc with dangerous storm surge and rainfall flooding; destructive winds; and tornadoes.
