We’re excited to highlight Medical Specialist Amanda Hoelzeman as our May employee of the month. In her nomination, Amanda was praised for her availability, her willingness to help, and her perseverance, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

What does a typical day at CTEH look like to you?

As a CTEH nurse, I work hard to help make sure everyone else is able to work. I either see employees to complete their annual physical or schedule employees outside of the North Little Rock offices for their exams. I also do the same for our Rapid Responders. When needed, I respond to projects and help with outside client exams.

What brought you to CTEH?

When I heard about CTEH, occupational health seemed pretty far outside of my usual job scope. Then, when I visited, I thought CTEH sounded like an interesting place to be. So, I gave a major change a chance, and here I am!

What do you enjoy most about working at CTEH?

I enjoy the people the most. There are so many different people and job responsibilities, but our team is built well, and they get the work done. We have strong friendships and work families. There are opportunities to learn and grow and truly feel like an important part of the company.

Do you have a favorite CTEH memory?

I really enjoyed my first on-site project last year. I had never flown by myself, never rented a car by myself, never driven in a big city by myself, and never eaten at a Whataburger. I accomplished all of that in one day! I learned so much about how projects go and got to see everyone in their elements. I was able to visit the Kemah office and the Houston area and meet many team members whose names I knew but had never met in person.

What sets CTEH apart from other companies?

Speaking as a nurse, CTEH is so different from working in a clinical or hospital environment. There are so many opportunities to learn and experience new things which I never knew nurses could do. Overall, I think CTEH has a great team of employees from all different backgrounds, educations, and personalities, who work together to help people and communities.
