Employees of the Month: Danielle Bogan and Madison Herrera

Global pandemic or not, responding to natural disasters is challenging. Following the recent hurricane in Alabama, Danielle Bogan (DB) and Madison Herrera (MH), Environmental Scientists, were asked to complete “detail-oriented tasks in extremely short time windows.” Without hesitation, their colleagues noted they “dug into their pool of resources” to successfully “fulfill all documentation, monitoring, and sampling requests.” By the end of the response, the client and their team praised them for their hard work and professionalism. Learn more about Danielle and Madison, our October Employees of the Month, below:

What does the role of Environmental Scientist entail?
DB: An environmental scientist is responsible for working with impacted communities, clients, and relevant governing or regulatory bodies during times of emergency. We must provide quick and effective services to help ensure the environment, and the people living in it, remain safe. This means mobilizing to incident sites as quickly as possible to collect real-time data, set up analytical stations for lab samples, or tackle other pressing duties.

What is a typical day at CTEH like for someone in your position?
MH: As many of my colleagues have previously said, there’s no such thing as a “typical day” at CTEH. As an environmental scientist, you have to constantly be prepared and ready for the next project or emergency response to arise. It keeps things interesting.

What are your favorite parts of working for CTEH?
DB: Every day is unique. In just a year and a half on the job, I’ve been able to see and experience so many different things with people I really enjoy. Our team comes from all over, but we all share a desire to explore. It’s deepened our friendships.
MH: My coworkers, by far. This job often requires long days or nights of hard work, but they make it worth it.

Congratulations, Danielle and Madison! Keep up the good work.
