Since CTEH was founded in 1997, we’ve focused on creating a culture of education. Last year, we doubled down on this commitment—obtaining a record 20 advanced industry certifications to provide even more value to our employees, company and clients:

•3 New Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH): The CIH is one of the most rigorous certification exams of any industry. To sit for the exam, individuals must have the adequate formal education, at least 180 academic hours or 240 continuing education hours of industrial hygiene (IH) casework, two hours of ethics training or coursework, experience with at least two occupational health stressors and at least four years of IH practice. In 2016, Dr. Paul Nony, senior toxicologist; Dr. Mike Berg, project toxicologist; and Jason Callahan, an industrial hygienist, earned CIHs.

•1 Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT): Dr. Shawn Wnek, one of our project toxicologists, recently joined more than 2,200 toxicologists across the world in becoming a DABT.

•2 New Certified Safety Professionals (CSP): In order to qualify for the CSP, individuals must have a bachelor or associate’s degree in safety, health or the environment; four years of professional safety experience; and a previous Board of Certified Safety Professionals credential (i.e., CIH). Dr. John Kind, our director of toxicology, and Dr. Mike Berg both received their CSPs last year.

•7 Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM): JT Wilson, Ram Pandey, Andy Britt, CIH, CSP, Lourdes Mahoney, Kyle Bennett, Robert Wilkinson, and Dan Christensen, CIH, CSP all earned CHMM credentials, which requires a minimum of four years experience in the field of hazardous materials management.

•9 Associate Safety Professional (ASP): In 2016, BJ Fogleman, Chase Selby, Jamie Beck, DeShun Beard, Justin Van Tine, Jenna Bird, Micah Kendrick, Lyndon Bijou and Jesse Millner all secured ASPs from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

•1 Registered Environmental Manager (REM): In addition to obtaining a CHMM, Ram Pandey also received an REM, demonstrating his ability to coordinate and oversee major environment health and safety programs and projects.

•3 Certified Environmental Scientist (CEM): Amanda Bates, Eric Simon and Bailey Taylor passed the CES exam, which is given by the National Registry of Environmental Professionals.

•2 Remote Pilot Airman Certifications: Chris Thessing and Phil Baker passed the exam by the Federal Aviation Administration to be a certified pilot as required by FAA Part 107 to fly sUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft System).

Please join us in congratulating these hardworking employees!
